Skins
We've been moving closer to an update, and in the process I'm finally moving the characters into the new NB. It's not as frustrating as building a lot, but I'm finding things that really annoy me. Like the skins.
Many of the skins are very old (because we've been doing this for a while). I've been trying to find new skins but so far they don't work at all. They totally change the character's appearance. I gave up with Rayne and tried to at least get rid of what looks like eyelashes that poke out too far. I moved the slider all the way to nothing in Bodyshop. When I take a look ingame at the result, the eyelashes are still there. Maybe they're not eyelashes. They're not makeup: I removed and redid all of that.
It's probably not possible to see the black THING over her eyes in this shot, but it's there.

OMG. I have that same issue with Isabella. There is nothing that gets rid of them. I've goolged it to death and still nothing. Frustrates me to no end. Rayne of course looks beautiful. I hope you are doing well and I can't wait for the next update :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, what is that thing? When I look at closeup shots on other people's sims, I don't see a black slab poking out over the eyes. Do you think it's part of the skin? I can work around it, but it makes some shots impossible.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I've never noticed it on Isabella.
We're slowly getting there. Recreating all the characters and the NB is taking a lot of time.
I never thought about it being skin related but I am tempted to see if that might be the case. I've been using Louis skins for all of my sims but she is the only one that has that issue. I just gave her really thick eyelashes so it probably is unnoticable to everyone but me. Still bothers the hell out of me though.
ReplyDeleteWe use the Louis skins for almost everyone, too. Maybe it's just bugging me so much now because I slowed down and I'm taking a closer look at everything after all this time. I only have four or five characters in place so far. I don't think Jimmy has the black eye problem, though. I'll have to check when I go into the game again, probably tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a lot of pixelation on those Louis skins with closeups? I swear the skin looks like green blobs when I get in really close, at least on the medium to dark tones.
Jimmy's skin is not a Louis skin so there shouldn't be any pixelation. The rest I wan'ted to try and redo where possible but it is hard not to change features, especially with the sims born in the game.
ReplyDeleteGayl, I don't think there's any point in even trying to use different skins on people like Rayne. The change in appearance is significant.
ReplyDeleteI took a closer look at the eyes of various sims on different blogs today, and, although it's a bit hard to tell because of the makeup and the angle of the shots, I think that eyelash thing is on all of them.
