Making a Diner

I've been working on the sets for the next chapter.   We need a diner, and I'm not good at stuff like diners.   Anyway, this is what I have so far.

Edit:

Ok!  I moved the walls in one space, which I think works better for a couple of reasons.  I can hide the door (and I need to block the door or remove it when I'm taking the shots to keep people out so that's good) and I think it looks a little more like a diner.

And here's a look at the proprietor and her little sister.

  1. I think it looks fine!

Diners are never fancy - My advice is = don't think! Just do!

Maybe a bit less moving space between the bar and the tables!
Big enough to take pictures, but not to make it look like a restaurant.

    Kind of like here:

With a walk space of maybe 2-3...

  2. Jean-Marie, I think there's less space than the shot makes it look like, but that's a very good point. I'll see if I can move the walls back a bit. I took these shots to test for angles and I can just barely get them without the counter getting in the way so I'm not sure.

Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback!

  3. Whenever I'm free, Dearie, whenever I'm free!

See if that'll work! But the overall look is good. I like the windows. Never seen them in a diner before. They all have big windows, so this looks nice. Gives it something different!

    Keep up the good work!
    ;)

  4. Jean-Marie, I'm trying! Thank you so much! I moved things together one space and posted some shots.

I used those windows for a couple of reasons. The most important reason was that I need to hide the pixelated stuff on the other side of the road...

  5. Much better!

It also takes away the need to decorate.
Even with little deco, it still looks crowded. Little space works wonders sometimes!

Sims are gorgeous BTW! And the diner looks good in the background of that picture!

  6. Thank you! I don't want to spend a ton of time on this set (like I haven't already) for about six shots.

And thanks about the sims. Qui helped me scrub them up a bit. This isn't your typical diner and they aren't your typical diner owners LOL!

  8. This looks fab! Like one of those easy eateries you pass on the highway! It's awesome!

And is it just me or does everyone get a little tingle hearing "next update"?

    :)

The atmosphere looks like it's somewhat quaint but that at any time someone could walk in and cause trouble and OMG I just saw the opening scene to Pulp Fiction! Great job!

  9. Jean-Marie, I owe you! I posted this on tumblr and gave you thanks.

Gayl...it's coming. I am so slow. I'm sorry.

  10. Daijahv, you are way too kind. Thank you. I'm doing my normal panic attack about taking shots.

Pulp Fiction is a work of art. A weird work of art, but it's famous for a reason. Except I don't know what the reason is except it is totally over the top LOL!

  12. Thank you, Jen! I'll probably continue to pick at it once I get everybody in there. I always see problems when I start to take shots. I think the floor is going to be a problem, for example. The counter blends into it.

  13. Oh, Beth. I wish I could take your "not good at stuff like diners". Just that much would be useful. This looks great. I'm always eating at diners and this would definitely be a place I would want to go visit.

  14. Choco, thank you! I really get impatient and bored with slapping clutter all over the place, and I didn't want to build something grungy. This particular diner is located on the edge of one of the most upscale commercial districts, not in the middle of a city, so it was hard to figure out how to do it. The red and white retro look doesn't appeal to me, either.

Thank you so much. I am really going to try to get some shots today.
