More Map Stuff

I have such a hard time looking at the map in Simscity and translating it to TS2.  Nothing looks the same.  As you can see, I've got a lot more to do to take out excess roads and get rid of some of that empty space.  The last shot shows how frustrating it is to deal with bridges that end in the midair.

  1. It's true; it looks so much better in TS2. I tried it once and I think I failed.

But wow, these shots are amazing! What a gorgeous world!

  2. Oh thank you!

If you tried it, you know how freaking hard it is. Everything is mirrored. The scale is completely off. What looks small in Simscity is huge in TS2. And you can't make small changes. I have to go into TS2 to make those, and then the terrain changes made in the NB map don't change the original terrain map, so they don't even show up at all when I put it back in SC4.

Anyway, it's better than it was when I started!

  3. You're doing an incredible job, and the hood really does look fantastic!
I can see what you mean about the bridge suddenly cutting off like that.. Some people don't mind little things in the game but I'm a tad perfectionist, and if it doesn't fit I will almost always remove it.
I don't think you need to do anything drastic like that though, you just gotta be a tad careful of the shots I guess, in case anybody notices the bridge suddenly becoming invisible or something :P

  4. It really looks amazing Beth. Your new vision for the South Beach terrain is incredible.

  5. EkhoGirl, I'll work around that bridge somehow. I don't want to give up the bridge, and there isn't any way to raise the terrain at the edge of the map without changing the bridge elevation so that it no longer fits neatly across the map. I'll probably put some big rocks out there and avoid this kind of shot. It would drive me crazy to have a shot with a bridge ending in nothing!

  6. Gayl, I hope I can make it work. I'm not changing the map all that much, but it was always way too big with too many roads and the one big mountain at the corner always looked odd.
